a Read Pink campaign on October 1 for breast cancer awareness. The Kimberly Chance
Atkins Foundataion (KCAF) will receive a percentage of every ad sold!

Brenda Edwards Named Executive Director

President Benny Atkins, who also is CEO of National EMS in Conyers, recently named
Brenda Edwards as Executive Director of the foundation.
Edwards is a breast
cancer survivor who had a lumpectomy in 2007. “Once you have breast cancer, you
become a member of the group,” she said. “You want to see care and help for other
people facing this in the future.” She aims to help those in the area who are facing
breast cancer or who might face it in the future deal with chemotherapy, radiation
and other treatment and doctors’ appointments, among other needs. “We want to be
able to assist wherever,” she said.
“So many people were so good to me with phone
calls or giving little bits of support. It was an eye-opening experience.”

About the Kim Atkins Foundation
KCAF is all about the education, prevention, early detection and treatment support
regarding breast cancer.
In our first 2 years, 2006-2007, we raised $90,000 which went to the Women's
Center at Rockdale Medical Center (RMC) to purchase Computer Aided Detection
and Digital Mammography equipment.
Our current focus is raising funds to purchase a Mobile Mammography Unit.
At over $550,000, it is a lofty objective, but we are dedicated to reaching this
goal because we know it will save lives!
